The Main Pub Restaurant (originally called the Main Pub Tavern) was established in June of 1980 by Glenn and Mary Beaulieu. At that time the Pub was only 14 feet wide and 50 feet long. Today the original outdoor sign hangs in the bar area. We were only able to serve beer as that was what a Tavern license allowed. Within a year of opening, a restaurant liquor license was acquired, which enabled us to sell wine and liquor. During the following year of our newly acquired license, we then expanded and rented the next-door space which was a vacuum cleaner sales and service store, which is now our present dining room.
At this time, we became The Main Pub Restaurant. The building then went up for sale and we purchased it and expanded into what was a carpet store and which is now our lounge. In 1985 we purchased the lime-green Pine Hurst grocery store and tore it down for parking. In the early 90s, we added the Atrium to increase dining space. Even after the explosion of restaurants at the Buckland Mall area, The Main Pub Restaurant is still thriving after almost twenty-six years. We are now in our next generation of the restaurant because of our son and daughter. The Beaulieu family would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our loyal friends and customers many of whom are also next generation.
This year will be the 26th anniversary of our annual Christmas Eve open house which began as a way of saying thank you. It has become a tradition for many of our customers, even those who have moved away, but who still come back toThe Pub on Christmas Eve as part of their holiday celebration. Once again, the Beaulieu family and its staff Thank You for allowing us to be a part of your community and giving us the opportunity to serve you!
